s/must/want to/

Ref. : Article, If you want, then start to laugh

I mentioned there are only two kind of job : want to do, and must do. We cannot escape from ‘must do’ kind of job in daily life. Here is a small trick to change your mood.

Just replace ‘must’ to ‘want to’ in your mind, even you don’t want to do it so much. The title of this article means a replacement in ’sed’ command on UNIX. It works as filter like,

  • I must go to city hall tomorrow. -> s/must/want to/ ->
    I want to go to city hall tomorrow.
  • I must finish this paper work until tomorrow. -> s/must/want to/ ->
    I want to finish this paper work until tomorrow.

Don’t you feel something have changed in your mind?

    I read a really good posting on Trizle recently saying that instead of saying “I have to” that you should use the term “I choose to”…

    using the “I-have-to’s,” drives your mind to subconsciously “confirm the impression that the task is awful and painful — one you wouldn’t do if you had the free choice.”

    Instead, when you replace the “I-have-to’s” with the “I-choose-to’s,” you empower your mind to become fully assertive and open to kicking ass.

    Thank you for the nice article :)

    That is exactly I have been thinking. “I-choose-to’s”, “I -want-to’s” ; they will be magic words for me.
